“Quality Education is a shared commitment between dedicated  teachers, motivated students and enthusiastic parents with high expectations”

I would like to introduce myself as the Principal of Oxford International School. I was born in Sri Lanka and I started my career as a teacher/Sectional Head of ICT Dept. and Vice Principal. Then I served as the  Principal in several schools. I hold a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education – Strategic planning in teaching process in secondary school (USA).

I believe that, maintaining a high level of discipline is the main factor of a school as it is an essential ingredient in producing good citizens of the future.

New methodologies are being  implemented to uplift the quality educational standards in every section of the school curriculum. It will continue to be regularly reviewed to ensure that it remains appropriate to the needs of our students.   The school offers opportunities for our students to enjoy a result oriented education in a disciplined environment. We aim to provide excellence in all our education programs

I believe that every student is unique and specially they all have the ability to learn. They need to set goals, within their reach until they gain confidence and determination.  At OIS we assist our students to become lifelong learners, as well as helping them to be self-directed, realistic, and responsible decision makers when solving problems that they will encounter in our multicultural, ever-changing world.

Hence in OIS, the Students are given the opportunities to thrive for their total development. We encourage them to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to build their confidence, independence and personality necessary to become well-rounded adults.

Our excellent teaching staff with a wealth of experience, work in different capacities to provide OIS children with guidance and knowledge. It is our goal to create an environment enriched with learning opportunities.

I want to turn to the role of parents here as it is known that the discipline begins at home.  So we are looking at ways of strengthening Home-School Agreements. Parents’ key responsibility is making sure that their child gets to school every day and gets involved in academics,co-curricular and extra-curricular activities regularly.

When we; students–teachers–parents-administrators talk (meetings) and listen to each other, we will gain a deeper understanding of what we want from our school.

OIS continually improves the quality of tools of communication, including giving our parents access to the website,  where they can retrieve pertinent information about their children’s academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements.

A number of activities I have already taken into account to enhance quality education in Oxford International School. I am confident enough that  OIS will make themselves stronger day by day, adding a new leaf to the grandeur of the school.

I wish all of you the very best in your future endeavors.
